BIOGRAPHY
Originally from the UK, Ms Sissons currently lives and works in NYC and Connecticut. Her award winning designs for the stage have taken her around the US and internationally since graduating from Central St Martin’s (BA, 1998) and The Royal College of Art (MA, 1991) in London. For fifteen years she was a professor of design at Carnegie Mellon University in the School of Drama. Her credits include: three time exhibitor at the Prague Quadrennial for theatre and performance, she is a Fulbright Specialist, as well as Drama Desk and Helen Hayes nominee amongst others. In addition to designing for theatre and opera, Sissons received an MFA in painting from the New York Studio School in 2024. She is currently painting in a studio in DUMBO with the NYSS AIR - Artist in Residence, one year program. Sissons’ solo exhibition will be on view in February 2025 at the NYSS AIR gallery in DUMBO. Her work was recently included in the group show “Being Human” at The Painting Center in NYC. She has exhibited works on paper in a group show with the CREST Collective at the 68 Jay Street Gallery in Brooklyn. Her paintings were included in the juried shows at Silvermine Galleries in Connecticut: 72nd A-ONE in 2022 and 74th A-ONE in 2024, Grand Prize winner. Sissons is a Silvermine Guild member. During the pandemic she co-created an online painting course for refugee women in the Houston area with WRAP.
